During the times of Mahabharata, say the ancient scriptures, in the state of Haryana, on the volcanic hill of Dhosi, there lived a sage, Rishi Chyawana in his hermitage, a weak, ailing, feeble man who was healed and rejuvenated by the Ashwini Kumars (the royal physicians to the Gods during the Vedic era) with the help of a polyherbal preparation to restore his vitality, strength and youth. The preparation derived it’s name from the sage and hence was called Chyawanprash.
The recipe for this preparation recorded in Charaka Samhita is held superior to all the other herbal rejuvenating tonics.
This potent antioxidant paste has an exquisite blend of around 50 herbs and spices.
The classic four categories of herbal drugs included in synthesis of Chyawanprash include the Dashamula (ten roots), Chaturjata (four aromatic plants), Ashtavarga (eight medicinal herbs from Northwest Himalaya on the verge of extinction) and a general class that includes minor herbs and spices.
With a strong base of Amla, ghee as the blending agent while organic jaggery and honey as a sweeteners, Chyawanprash has a mixture of exotic plants like Arjun Chhaal, Javitree, Kachoor Gokharoo, Vaanslochan, Giloy, Shilajeet and Brahmi.
The Slow Chyawanprash has been cooked traditionally in Kadhai with organic jaggery to maintain and enhance its nutritive value at its best.
The amla, organic jaggery, honey, ghee, ashwagandha and multiple other herbs and spices makes it a perfect immunity booster to armour your body against multiple infections and ailments.
Benefits of consuming a spoonful of Chyawanprash daily:
1. It is the premier Rasayana, beneficial for allaying cough, asthma and other respiratory ailments.
2. It nourishes the weak and degenerating tissues, promotes vigour, vitality and is anti-ageing.
3. Chyawanprash helps to balance the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha (bodily humors/bioenergies regulating the structure and biofunctions of the human body).
4. It is an excellent ergogenic (enhancing physical performance), tonic, rejuvenator, anabolic, immunomodulator and promotes strength to the gastrointestinal tract, digestive organs, cardiovascular, respiratory, and cerebrospinal systems, neuronal circuits, and renal and reproductive tissues.
Chyawanprash has passed the scrutiny of several scientific studies. Contemporary studies corroborate and validate the ancient claims and traditional beliefs regarding its therapeutic use. Hence in the modern world, Chyawanprash has been reincarnated in its best form.
