Adorned with the hues of red and blue, made from indigo and madder, Ajrak sarees are block-printed textiles resist-dyed using natural dyes. Originally made by the Khatris community from Kutch, Gujarat, these sarees stand out with their complex floral and geometric patterns.
Ajrak, a word derived from the Persian ‘azarak’ for the blue colour undergoes 14-16 different stages of printing and dyeing.
The craftsmen work in complete harmony with nature where trees, animals, sun, river and mud all become an eternal part of the process.
Red for earth, black for darkness, white for clouds and blue for the universe itself, this soft and eye-appealing fabric gives you all the comfort and attitude you deserve.
So when are you trying out one of the best folk-arts of the country?
